About
The hand behind the light

Neelam Shah paints in devotion to light, to stillness, to the sacred quiet within the natural world. Known by her artist name Jini, she works from her studio in Vadodara, Gujarat, producing large-format oil paintings that command space without demanding attention.
Her practice is defined by patience and process. Paintings are built through careful glazing — layer upon translucent layer over weeks or months — until the image feels inevitable rather than constructed. This discipline shows especially in her figurative work, a particular passion: dancers frozen mid-gesture, figures in repose, mythological scenes rendered with the warmth of lived observation.
“What remains unpainted matters as much as what appears.”
